As a result of abortive negotiations, we have been instructed by Plymouth College (jointly with Savills Exeter) to relaunch the marketing of the former Preparatory School, which is situated on the popular Millfields Estate, approximately 1 mile west of Plymouth city centre.
The property was vacated following the relocation of the Prep School to the main College site at Ford Park last summer and it represents a substantial edge of city centre conversion / change of use opportunity within an historic setting. It may also be of interest to other learning and non-residential institutions falling under use class F1.
The site extends to 4.5 acres (1.8 ha) and comprises the main Ascot Building, the Sports Hall, the school playing field, St Dunstan’s Abbey Chapel and two single storey octagonal buildings, known as the Food Technology Centre and the Maintenance Building. We understand that the Ascot Building, the Food Technology Centre and the Maintenance Building were constructed between 1900 and 1945, the Grade II listed Chapel dates back to 1883 and the Sports Hall was constructed around 2005.
The College owns the freehold interest and its clear preference is to sell the whole property in a single transaction on an unconditional basis, although consideration will be given to the disposal of a substantial part.
