Following a number of unsuccessful planning journeys and after many years since Conway House was built for Devon & Cornwall Police at Dolbeare Meadow Business Park Ashburton, construction has commenced for the development of a new build Co-Op Convenience retail unit on the site.

Access works to the site have been underway for the last 3 or 4 months of 2024 which have now been completed and contractors are on site now for the new building which will provide a retail unit of circa 4000 sq ft with parking alongside for circa 18 vehicles due for completion in the summer of 2025.

John Slade of Monk & Partners comments, this development has been a long time coming due to a number of factors including changes in the economic climate, the covid pandemic and failed planning applications but we have eventually secured an agreement for lease to the Co-Op and similarly a drive thru coffee unit for a Starbucks which will follow the Co-Op.

Terms have also been agreed for plot one to a local business for their offices along with an electric vehicle charging operator to provide a charging hub.

Being located on the eastern edge of the town and on the slip road adjacent to the A38, the development will provide an excellent boost to the Ashburton economy and create a number of new jobs.

The units being built are to be of high quality design having met the style required by the Dartmoor National Park.

There remain two more plots on the site for which the developers will be seeking occupiers/purchasers.
